Well by now you are either
smiling quietly to
yourself, rolling your eyes, or calling
your lawyer.
If you are of the latter variety, you are probably not suited to international
travel. But please don’t let that stop you. Most major cities in western
Europe have wonderful guided bus tours from which you can see most of the city
without having to actually talk to any furreners who might mistake you for
an ugly American.
Did you know that 4,435 Americans and
many Frenchmen died in combat between 1775 and 1783 to establish
a free country independent
of foreign tyranny where basic human freedoms would be guaranteed
for all? Can you name that country and the two main French generals
who helped them win our freedom?
Here are some clues: One of them gave
his name to the game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” and
the other is buried in American soil in Paris, and an American
flag flies permanently
over the gravesite. It flew there even during the German occupation
of Paris. And that was NOT a typo.
