There I was standing with super spy Shane
Powers atop the cliffs on the American side of the river
looking down at the little blue dots on the boats, and
at the little blue dots waiting to get on the boat. We
pondered, "Is this touristy thing worth the $11
when so many other touristy things turned out to be so
not worth it?" We would probably never be back here,
so we decided to take our chances at not missing out
on a cool memory. Read on to see how we answered our
question...
One of the first things we noticed
was that there were two docks, one Canadian and the
other American. The Canadian dock was covered in
little blue dots and the American only had a few
blue dots. We opted to become American dots. And
because our boat was not very full we got to run
around on the boat, go up on top, hang out at the
bow or wherever else we felt like going. In other
words we were able to change our perspective to get
slightly different views without having to fight
the crowd.
These two photos were shot
within
seconds of each other from the American
side.

The boat typically fights the current
until at engines full the current keeps it from advancing
any further. The boat holds there for a minute or
two, and then turns back. Looking at it from above
it looks like you'll get soaked on the boat, but
you don't actually get that wet. I had my camera
out for brief intervals even up close to the falls.
To see a short video of the boat getting
up close to the falls click on the up close picture.
There are four videos of the falls in this section.
Find the potential terrorists,
the little red haired girl, and the "no swimming"
sign.
The boat ride is about
20 minutes long. You get the spray on your face and
a great view of the falls. I've never experienced anything
else quite like it and for $11 it was definitely worth
it.
