Artsy Fartsy, eh?

I wanted to do a whole section on the Art District of Toronto, but there were so many cool things that I couldn't decide. So I am going to highlight one particular shop which I feel is most representative of the district. That shop is Tintaj. This is a place where you can find everything from very cool alarm clocks to old fashioned toys for your kids to garden decorations. It's all handmade and ultra cool.

Tintaj is owned and operated by Carol Anne Castray, a tin-smith turned shop-keeper. She still does custom tinwork, but she spends most of her time in her shop with her 16 year old pug who's name I have forgotten (oops). Mouse over her portrait to see some of her custom tin picture frames. Or just look on the wall behind her...

Check out these little wind up robots! This is the sort of thing your grandparents thought were high-tech back in the 30's. I thought that the bespectacled iron bird was pretty cool too.

If you are into horses Tintaj has a nice selection of horse themed door knockers, wall hooks, and other household stuff.

Remember those alarm
clocks I mentioned at the top?

Tintaj can be found just across the street from the big park on Queen Street West. Speaking of the park, check out this video of the amazing Mr. Verg the Toronto improvisation artist.
