Rome has a great tradition of statuary.
So much so that it seems like there is a statue on
every corner and inside every nook, and doorway.
You can purchase that pretty little owl at the baroque
artisan's shop linked at the bottom of the page. |

| Just walking around
to the spots in the tourist guides won't net you
much in the way
of hidden treasures. I found the nice doggy statue
and the Morlock Prince while poking my head into
where I ought not to have been. |

Roman churches are no exception to
the every nook phenomenon. Just about any church
you walk into is going to have some beautiful little
bronze statues, as well has beautifully frescoed
walls and ceilings. |

| Some of the least inspiring churches,
architecturally speaking, hold some of the most breathtaking
works of art. This lovely bit of marble sits beneath
the tomb of Bernini inside one of the ugliest (on
the outside) churches I've ever seen. |
