Alessandro Downtown
Hostel |
Via Carlo Cattaneo 23 , 00185 Rome Italy |
|

I met a lot of cool
people at this place including Matt from Chicago
and Vinny from
Toronto.
Vinny runs marathons, speaks italian and showed us
around
Rome. Vinny was everyone's favorite, except for the
stuck-up girls who didn't like anyone. These pretty
girls were NOT stuck up, they were from Santa Barbara
and were very nice.
The hostel has a bar. Don't forget to ask for your
"free shots" at check in.
A very short video of Vinny
(not interesting unless
you are Vinny) |

I spent my last day
in Rome with a really cool girl from Toronto (Tim
Hortons is CRAP!) and
a different day with the stuck up girls from
the Bay Area who
whined and complained for 4 hours straight.
(They
know the Vatican when they see it.) |

| |
| The hostel has a TV room, several reasonably
priced vending machines, and an actual real breakfast
in the morning consisting of free not-bad coffee,
various cold cereals from sweet to wholesome, bread,
and juice. |

The beds here are
quite comfortable. But the showers leave a little
to be desired because they have no hooks upon which
to hang one's clothing.
In keeping with the tenets of quasi-respect for
people's privacy the faces in these photos have been
blurred out so you
can't
prove
it's
you. |
|
| |
| Getting to the hostel
is simple. It's on the opposite side of Termini station
from where the bus
from the airport arrives. So if you are facing the
station you go to the right. You walk along parrallel
to the station until you find Via Carlo Cattaneo
and ring #23. It's about 5 minutes from the train station. |
| |
| If you are hungry, there's
a "greek" place
just around the corner where you can get a full meal
for less than €3.50 that is actually good and not
greasy. Turn right out the hostel door, go to the first
street, turn
left
and it's
on the left hand side just past the other nearby restaurants. |
| |
| Just a quick money saving tip if you happen
to be flying Ryanair to Rome. They will try to sell you
a bus ticket to downtown for €18. Remember in a
market with only one seller, the price goes way up. If
you wait till you land and look for the double decker
bus at the far end of the bus stops in front of Ciampino
Airport, you will only pay €6. Hooliator did
not fall for that trick because Hooliator paid attention
in Econ 101. But others on his flight did fall for it.
Don't be a lemming. Buy your bus ticket from the bus
driver. |
